Italy - Sorrento, Capri & Amalfi

Sorrento was everyone's hands down favorite of the whole trip. The scenery was beautiful, we had several stereotypical Italian experiences (checkered table clothes, drippy candles, music, etc), the town was very visitor friendly and there was so much to see and enjoy. This area is known for lemons...but not the table lemons we know, no these are the size of a child's head and they make EVERYTHING out of them. We had lemon beverages, candies, desserts, bought ceramics and linens with lemons on them...its a good thing we like lemons! We shopped like crazy, bought leather goods and custom made sandals, limoncello and tons more. The port looked like it was from a picture book--loved it! (even though the steps down were no small endeavor).

Monday, we took a boat out to the island of Capri and then took a smaller boat to the famed Blue Grotto "Grotto Azure" and then got into a rowboat, laid on our backs and entered a three foot opening to see this amazing sight. Definitely a memory to last a lifetime...
Tuesday, we took a boat along the Amalfi coast, stopped in Positano and then the town of Amalfi. Here we took another excursion to the Emerald Grotto "Grotto S'emeraldo". Not quite as adventerous to get in but still a sight once you were.

From Amalfi, we took a bus along the scariest drive in the world, hanging onto the cliff the whole time and often only one car width wide but with absolutely stunning scenery.
We then stayed at a resort outside of Salerno and let the kids have a day to just play in the pool, rest and relax before playing tourist again.

The music scared me to death when it first came on, but I love it.

Oh, Kerri...looks stunning and like you had a fabulous time!! Italy was a place that Cody and I had looked at taking a one week "just the two of us" vacation together! I'll be using your blog as a travel tool again! We obviously, sadly, will not be making it to Paris as we had planned in July...as we will be moving at that time more than likely. And, yes, we will be going to the states in between with Cody. Will you be back in Dallas come August??
