8th Arrondissement

Saturday, we went into Paris to tour the 8th arrondissement. We purposely saved this neighborhood for December because it contains the famous shopping streets of rue du Faubourg/Saint Honore and the Champs Elysses. We wanted to see all the magnificent decorations and lights. There were beautiful decorations in every storefront and alley. We had a more mild day than we have had in months so loved being outside. Of course, all of Paris had the same idea.

We toured the historical La Madeline church...

Stopped and watched the marvelous windows at the Galleries Lafayette...

and of course, their famous tree...

We let Andrew pick where he wanted to eat for his birthday lunch out and we really had not needed to ask...

We spent the afternoon strolling through the Christmas fairs along the Champs Elysses and at La Defense. There were typical fair hawkers, games, goods, arts and crafts all in a Christmas theme but the food isn't like anything we have at our fairs. We saw numerous boths for "Vin Chaud" (hot wine), "Raclette" (which was some kind of potato, cheese and ham mix), chocolates and candies (French of course) and charcuterie (various cold meats sliced right off of the animal). Just give me some cotton candy please!
